Date: 2008
Owner: City of Kenora
Description: In 2008 the City of Kenora embarked on the revitalization of their downtown core, and Wilco began with 11,500 m3 of earth excavation, 14,000 m3 of asphalt removal, and the removal of pipes and culverts. The replacement of outdated underground utilities, roadway improvements, parking improvements and highly detailed streetscaping were all a part of this complex civil project. The highlight of this contract was the creation of a roundabout to improve traffic flow at a major intersection in the heart of downtown Kenora. To make this happen, Wilco implemented a complex traffic detour plan to accommodate the city during construction. The contract value for this project was $8.6 million.
